Why a robot mower misses a patch: gather the right evidence first

A missed patch is easier to investigate when you know whether the mower never reaches it, reaches it without cutting or leaves it only under certain conditions. Begin with that distinction rather than changing every setting.

Map the symptom

Mark the location on a garden sketch and take photographs with the mower stopped. Record when the issue appears, the schedule and any messages in the app.

Note whether the problem follows a garden change, software update or maintenance job. Keep those events in order so support can see what happened before the symptom began.

Separate access from cutting

Ask whether the area is inside the intended boundary and reachable under the installation instructions. Husqvarna UK: robotic mower FAQ describes model-dependent passage and layout requirements. Do not assume a gap that looks wide enough to a person meets the mower's installation requirements.

If the mower passes over the patch, follow the manual's safe inspection procedure for cutting condition. The RHS: lawn mowing guide guide highlights sharp blades and appropriate cutting height as parts of lawn care.

Do not reach beneath a running mower or improvise maintenance to investigate a small cosmetic issue.

Change one supported setting at a time

Use the manual or support advice. Record the original setting and the result of a change. Avoid altering exclusion areas or safety clearances simply to force the mower closer to an obstacle.

If a passage or slope needs an installer to reassess it, leave that area outside unattended operation until resolved.

Keep the outcome realistic

Some layouts may leave a documented manual finishing task. Ask the installer to distinguish that from a fault or incomplete setup.

A useful report shows location, conditions and behaviour. It gives support a better starting point than saying the lawn looks uneven, and reduces the temptation to reset a functioning installation without knowing which problem you are trying to solve.
