Can you hose a robot mower? Check the exact cleaning permission

A robot mower works outside, but its cleaning instructions still matter. Before using a hose, find the exact model's permitted method and read the charging-station instructions separately.

Distinguish exposure from cleaning

The Husqvarna UK: seasonal Automower support and cleaning guidance permits running-water rinsing from a garden hose for named models (the NERA range and the R6V, 308V and 312V) and advises against high-pressure washers, particularly for the charging station. Its cleaning section also describes brushing and wiping, and treats the charging station separately. These are manufacturer-specific permissions, not a rule that every outdoor mower or dock can be hosed.

Use the model and current manual to identify what is actually allowed. If you own a similarly named earlier version, ask support rather than applying a video of a newer machine to it.

Make two records

Create one line for the mower and one for the dock/power equipment. Record shutdown or disconnection steps, permitted tools, permitted water use and any part-specific precautions. Include a camera or navigation component where the model has one.

Keep the guide's general advice beside the exact instructions rather than replacing them. A statement about the mower body does not automatically cover contacts, a power supply or another installed accessory.

Prepare the workspace

Follow the approved isolation and handling procedure before touching the underside. Keep people clear of the maintenance area and protect yourself as the maker specifies. Do not reach around moving blades or defeat a safety feature to make cleaning easier.

Use only the supported cleaning tools and products. If compacted debris cannot be removed within the instructed method, ask a dealer how to proceed rather than escalating to a stronger jet or solvent.

Separate cleaning from fault repair

Note any damaged seal, loose component or unusual mark you discover, and stop where further work needs assessment. Cleaning away visible dirt does not establish that an electrical or mechanical fault has been resolved.

For support, retain the model, the method used, the part affected and a photograph taken safely. This is more informative than saying the mower stopped after a wash without a record of the arrangement.

Leave a short cleaning card

Write: mower identity, dock identity, permitted method, instructions location and support contact. Add the date the manual was checked. Revisit it when equipment is replaced or a support instruction changes.

Use the related blade guide for cutting-part condition and approved replacements. The aim here is a cleaning method explicitly supported for the actual equipment, with uncertainty resolved before water is applied.

FAQs

Does being an outdoor mower mean pressure washing is allowed?

No. Husqvarna’s reviewed guidance warns against high-pressure washers. Follow the exact model’s cleaning instructions. Husqvarna UK: seasonal Automower support and cleaning guidance

Does permission to rinse the mower also cover its dock?

Check separately. Husqvarna distinguishes model-specific running-water permissions and charging-station care; do not transfer one permission to every component. Husqvarna UK: seasonal Automower support and cleaning guidance

Can I use a newer model’s cleaning video for an older mower?

Confirm the exact model first. The reviewed guidance gives specific permissions rather than a universal running-water method. Husqvarna UK: seasonal Automower support and cleaning guidance
